Borders Loot

I know a lot of you have already made your trek to the Borders Books in your neighborhood to pick up a few bargains during their liquidation. I finally made my way over there. I think 40% list is as low as you can let it go if you want to get anything decent. As you can see I did fairly well.

Nice! It looks like this must have been a better-than-average Border's.

You did extremely well. Friendship Heights? On my way there this afternoon.

I'd seen the movie of The Blessing before I'd read the book. So funny to realize it all of a sudden by the description of the ghastly carpet!

Wish Her Safe at Home was an unforgettable read, hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Thanks for the book porn!

I was pondering heading over there yesterday (the L Street store), but I've finally gotten my shelves to an appropriately full but not overflowing state, and I'm too pleased with the situation to give that up. It does look like some good stuff was available, though. There are a few there I would certainly have considered.

Yesterday was the final day for our local Borders. Since everything was $1 or less, my daughter and I decided to visit one last time. There were literally ten books left on a single table. I ended up feeling sorry for the authors of the 'unchosen'...

You did indeed do "fairly well." A couple of Cathers and NYRBs I recognize. Happy reading to you!

Ooo, Wish Her Safe At Home - good choice. The other NYRB Classics book has a lovely cover, even if I can't make out the title.

Steve: I never thought of it than better-than-average. But maybe you are right.

Frances: Yes FH. I hope you found something you like.

Tessa: The Blessing is a movie, how interesting.

Darlene: I am looking forward to WHSaH.

Mystica: Yes!

Teresa: I went to the L Street store and didn't find anything that I wanted. They had more stock, but it wasn't interesting to me.

JoAnn: That sounds very sad.

Susan: It was only 40% off. If it had been more I would have cast a wider net.

Simon: Peter Handke's Short Letter, Long Farewell.

Oh I see some NYRBs and Europas! I've been hitting the Borders sales too. I'm excited about my loot but still sad about Borders closing.

A nice mixed bunch of titles! I remember reading Last of the Mohicans after watching the film and had to check I was reading the correct book (says a lot about the film, methinks!)
