Sunday Painting: The City by Robert Delaunay

The European setting of Bernhard Schlink's Homecoming, which I reviewed earlier today, made this painting seem appropriate for my Sunday Painting.

  1. Like it. I'm not familiar with this artist, but I do like this one. Looks like Paris, but it could be just about any European city I guess.

  2. That is quite a painting! Thank you for introducing me to this artist :-)

  3. Lovely! I do love the paintings you feature, Thomas. I never know where to find beautiful paintings otherwise.

  4. CB: I agree, it totally looks like Paris.

Cristina: I am glad you like it.

Simon: Thanks. I think the Persephone Post has great paintings as well. The images I post are all culled from my postcard collection of works I have seen over the years. Challenge is that many museums are putting fewer and fewer of their non-blockbuster paintings on postcards. And I always tend to like the lesser known works.

  5. I love this. Going to art database for more now. Thanks!
