  1. Oh my goodness. This could bring a whole lot of new readers to the classics...

  2. Good Lord. I am speechless! I think whoever picked that up would be quite disappointed with the content after seeing that cover!

  5. I agree with Darlyn. I know publishers have really whittled down their staff, but someone with a bit of taste and knowledge really needs to be overseeing this. ___ The Devoted Classicist, http://tdclassicist.blogspot.com

  6. Oh how shame-making! and the cherries? I'm lost?

I wonder if that unemployed porn actress knows she's a book cover "star?"

  7. There is a lot of talk about Gudrun and her tights in Women in Love, although those stockings were not quite what I imagined her wearing!

  8. Lifetime: Photo aside, the bad design would keep me from picking it up.

Rachel: Totally disappointed. I found the book tedious and I wasn't even looking for sex.

Kerry: Not one redeeming thing about it.

Darlyn: I think he may have liked the picture.

John: Thankfully, this wasn't from a publishing house, it is someone taking the public domain text and slapping a cover on it to try and make some money from gullible e-readers.

Daniel: I think the cherries are alluding to her untouched nature. If you can believe that.

    Niesa: I think your right.

  9. There are no words. This is appalling! Was the cover creator trying to revive the legal case against this book?

  10. That post is hilarious; what makes the Swann's Way cover really funny is that those are macaroons, not madeleines!
