A foggy day at Kew Gardens

On our last day in London we had a magical morning at Kew Gardens. Not only did the gardens look amazing in the heavy fog but there were so few people there it was like we had the place to ourselves.

As usual John in is the master photographer. Click on images to make them bigger.

  1. I love the mysterious mood that foggy pictures convey! All of these are just terrific, but my favorites are the gate in the distance (leaves me wondering what is behind it) and the next to last photo: the statue is so clear and crisp in contrast to the obscure background.

  2. What wonderful photographs! I'm with Molly: the fog expresses so much and makes it all the more fascinating.

  3. And now you have the back cover "author's photo" for your brooding, melancholy memoir when you publish it.

  5. Gracious these are gorgeous! Lord knows I love my fog!

I've just spent a good portion of the hour reading, from your blog and the others, about your meet-up! So jealous! Sounds like an absolutely perfect day. Now off to look for plane tickets to London!

  7. What absolutely stunning photos! That third one made me laugh because I would imagine anyone who has spent a winter in London would know that that's where it was, despite the fact that you can really see almost nothing in it at all - which is exactly how you know!

Beautiful 10th photo too - they almost look like sea creatures.

Wonderful photos of what sounds like a magical experience.

  8. These pictures have a Gothic and haunting feel to it...I'm starting to think that I need to pick up Rebecca right about now.

  11. The fog makes the place look like the scene of a haunted mansion LOL
